Plan with the dimensions of the object that will actually travel through the route. Separate assembled, packaged, and delivery states
Create three rows before measuring the building. The assembled row describes the finished sofa at its largest rigid width, depth, and height. The packaged row lists every carton or wrapped section individually, including handles, strapping, corner protectors, and quantity. The delivery-state row records what the carrier expects to move through common areas and whether packaging remains intact.

Calculate only approved leg reduction
Suppose a sofa is 84 inches wide, 36 inches deep, and 34 inches high. Its instructions confirm that 4-inch legs are installed separately. The effective height used for a straight profile is 34 − 4 = 30 inches. Width remains 84 and depth remains 36. Enter those values in the Sofa Through Door Checker.
Do not subtract an arm, back, cushion, bracket, or frame element unless the manufacturer explicitly approves removal for delivery and supplies a procedure. A removable loose cushion is not the same as a compressible fixed arm. Improvised dismantling may damage upholstery, mechanisms, wiring, structure, or warranty coverage.
The calculator rejects a leg reduction equal to or greater than sofa height and supports physical dimensions from 1 through 240 inches. Those are input boundaries, not realistic product recommendations. They keep the calculation defined while leaving product verification to you.
Measure every package and quantity
Copy package length, width, height, weight, and count from the current order page, then confirm them with the retailer. Use the largest rigid or protected projection, not only the printed carton panel. If there are three packages, test all three; the widest may control one door while the longest controls a turn.
Mark which side may rest on a dolly, which orientation labels must stay upright, and where handholds are available, based on carrier instructions. Do not use this guide to set lifting technique or crew size. Weight, balance, fragile mechanisms, and worker safety belong to trained handlers and current delivery rules.
Packaging can help or hurt fit. A carton may add corner thickness and prevent temporary fabric compression, but a modular package may be much smaller than the assembled sofa. Ask where packaging can be removed and who disposes of it. Buildings may prohibit unpacking in lobbies or corridors.
Match package states to the route

Verify limitations and responsibility

It does not model package deformation, diagonal rotation, a long carton sweeping around a corner, stair slope, payload, structural capacity, safe lifting, or assembly quality. A “clears” result means at least one measured straight profile fits the entered rectangle; it does not prove the delivery will succeed.
Before purchase or dispatch, send the retailer the route sheet, package table, photographs, and uncertain turns. Reconfirm current dimensions and policies because products and fleets change. The safest useful conclusion is conditional: these measured states appear compatible with these measured straight openings, subject to physical path and professional handling verification.
Check the order record at handoff
Keep the product number, package count, stated dimensions, approved-removal instructions, and retailer contact together. At delivery, compare labels with that record before a carton enters the building. A substituted color or module can have a different article number and package envelope even when the collection name looks familiar. Note visible package damage and follow the carrier's reporting process rather than opening or repairing a carton in a prohibited common area. After placement, account for every approved fastener and have the furniture assembled according to the product instructions. This handoff check does not enlarge a marginal path, but it prevents the calculation from being applied to the wrong physical object.
